New trigger for onset of colon cancer: May lead to better therapies

A new function of a colon cancer gene has been found to bring several activators of this disease to a halt. This discovery changes long-held views on exactly how this key gene acts, and may lead to identification of additional drug targets, and better designed targeted therapies for colon cancer patients that can kill cancer cells but spare the normal cells in the colon.
